Big Red, Big Top and Useless Desires

February 8th, 2009

After what seems to be an endless wait and quite a few libations, it happened!

Fun and solid artsmanship. Thanks to Useless Desires for this tremendous opportunity!

Lotsa love,
Big Red.

HEADS UP - Check me out!

January 28th, 2009

“Why?”, you ask. Cuz some things require preparation and ahead of time planning, some people just can’t do it any other way, and Wednesday morning (or afternoon as it may be) email is “too late”.. I’ve heard enough of that so – plan this:

February 6 @ Beale Street —  Happy Hour @ CD Release Party by Useless Desires band. BR will be doing some stage guest performing. Real cool.

February 20 @ The Russian Cultural CenterThe Annual Russian Festival. Way cool! The festival goes on for 3 days — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Friday is 2 for 1 entry!

4 glorious years and the birthday gala…

January 19th, 2009

I could spend days and days recounting all the wonderful moments we’ve shared, and one day I will, but today is all about tomorrow. Yes, we’ve done well for the local economy, local charities, and ourselves, but we can do better. Yes we can!

And this week’s Puff’n’sip is not just a birthday gala, it’s a festival of future and hope. And we’ve planned a few things for you to keep the ball rolling:

The 4th Anniversary of Puff’n’sip will commence on January 21, 2009 promptly @

5:48 PM @ Cigar Bar and Grill, 850 Montgomery (@Jackson)

We will have fun and things, including Puff’n’holdem and Liar’s Dice, and a special appearance of ever-crowd-pleasing

Porkchop Express @ 6:57 PM

All proceeds from Puff’n’holdem and Liar’s Dice will benefit a local charity — see more details below. You don’t have to play to donate. All contributions will be greatly appreciated.

More on Puff’n’holdem Rules
It’s Texas Hold’em, and $20 gets you a seat at the table.
It is a tournament, so you can buy in at any time. Almost.
There will be some obsessively competitive players, but no in-depth knowledge required.
All winnings go to the charity below in the name of the winner.

Liar’s Dice Rules
It’s a dice game, players use sets of dice and cups. $1 to stay, but we might increase the stake.
You can buy in any time as long as there are seats available.
All winnings go to the charity below.

Charity Below
All proceeds from Puff’n’sip will benefit Tenderloin Neighborhood Development, the community group that provides support, after-school programs, and educational enrichment for local kids. The group has been working in Tenderloin since 1981.

Hope to see you all at the gala!

Lotsa love,
Big Red.

Life After the Crawl…

August 4th, 2008

Hope y’all had a GREAT time Friday night.  I know I did.  Now Saturday morning was a different story…too many flaming dragons shots.  Me and Chartreuse, no longer friends.

Anywho - check out some pics on Flickr (also posted in the PuffnSip group on Flickr).  Enjoy these, and please observe photo karma rules:  only share with fellow crawlers and only post/share the cutest of photos.

Friday, August 1st

Opening Ceremonies will commence at 4:30 pm @ 83 Proof

  • Teams with a common theme (country, sport, era) are highly encouraged!
  • Speedos, … not encouraged! (unless you bear a striking resemblance to a certain Michael Phelps…)

You don’t need to have a team, a sport, or even a liver, to compete. Everyone is welcome!  There will be a qualification round, then medal events at each stop.

More details will be published next Wednesday on www.puffnsip.com.

Bringing you the best this town has to offer…

July 23rd, 2008

No, we are not going to adopt this slogan, even though Puff’n’sip is arguably amongst the best. But this week we are in our annual luck since 14th Annual North Beach Festival respectfully schedules their Jazz on Grant event on Puff’n’sip day.

But to make it all so much sweeter, today is The Day for AGF. The man is so old that if there was a groundbreaking ceremony for Puff’n’sip, he probably was dug out during it, but he definitely was there. On behalf of all Bunnies and Bad Santa’s – Happy Birthday!
